Master of Project Academy (MoPA) is an online training company that sells self-paced courses for the PMP, CAPM and PMI-ACP exams, plus Microsoft Project, Six Sigma, Agile and IT certification courses, mostly by monthly or annual subscription. Its PMP course costs $99 a month or $547 a year and provides the 35 hours of training PMI requires. This review covers every course and price we could read on its site, the refund rules, which of its marketing claims we could and could not verify, the effect of PMI’s 1 December 2026 training rule on its live class, and cheaper or stronger alternatives.

MoPA is a US company headquartered in Washington, DC. Its About page says it has helped more than 300,000 professionals in 180+ countries; its all-courses bundle page says 500,000+. Courses are 100% online, mostly self-paced video with practice questions, handouts and cheat sheets, delivered through an online school platform. The company’s current leadership listed on its site is CEO Chris Monroe, with Resit Gulec as Chief Growth and Marketing Officer and one of its project management instructors; other listed PM instructors include Frederick Hilkowitz, Sandra Worley, Jerome Hubbard, Renae Livingston and Jana Sullivan.

Two pricing notes. First, the monthly option is the cheapest route only if you finish in under six months: $99 a month passes the $547 annual price in month six. Second, the PMP course and the PMP exam simulator are separate products; one Reddit commenter noted you will likely end up buying the course and the simulator at least. The PMP course in brief
MoPA’s self-paced PMP course lists 35 contact hours “mapped to the 2026 PMP exam,” 300+ lectures, 750+ practice questions, a sample exam, 20 situational project cases and cheat sheets. Its curriculum opens with an update module for candidates sitting the exam from 9 July 2026, including materials on the PMP mindset, how questions are changing, and AI topics. You receive a 35-hour certificate to use on your PMI application.
Under PMI’s rules, self-paced, on-demand training “may come from any organization” as long as it aligns with the current exam content outline, so the self-paced course is a valid way to meet the 35-hour requirement. The PMP exam itself costs $425 for PMI members or $675 for non-members, paid to PMI after your application is accepted (pmi.org, read 24 October 2026). The live PMP class and PMI’s 1 December 2026 rule
MoPA also sells a four-day live online PMP class (weekday or weekend) with instructor-led lectures and lifetime access to the self-paced course; Standard is $1,079 and Pro $1,279. Recent Trustpilot reviewers who took it praised instructors Jerome Hubbard and others by name.
PMI RULE CHANGE
PMI changes its rules on 1 December 2026: from that date, live instructor-led PMP training counts toward the 35 hours only if it is delivered by a PMI Authorized Training Partner, an eligible accredited academic program (including GAC-accredited programs), or a China Registered Education Provider. Live courses completed before 1 December 2026 remain eligible. MoPA’s PMP pages we read do not say it is an Authorized Training Partner, so check PMI’s partner directory before buying a live class that finishes after 30 November 2026. The self-paced course is unaffected.
MoPA’s live-class terms are also stricter than its self-paced terms: once you have attended a live session, there is no refund, you can reschedule once for free, a second rescheduling request costs $300, and if you cannot attend your class date you forfeit the payment. The CAPM and PMI-ACP courses
The CAPM course gives the 23 contact hours PMI requires, 600+ practice questions, a sample exam and cheat sheets, for $89 a month, $477 a year or $697 for lifetime access. It is the better starting point if you do not yet have the project experience the PMP requires; our CAPM certification guide and CAPM vs PMP comparison explain the choice. An active CAPM also satisfies the PMP’s 35-hour training requirement, according to PMI.
The PMI-ACP course covers agile certification with 21+ hours of training, at $89 a month, $497 a year or $770 lifetime. On Reddit, one learner who used the CAPM course said it “did the job but [was] not very engaging,” which matches the general view of MoPA’s video style: clear and complete rather than lively.
The PMP exam simulator and practice exams
Practice questions are where MoPA spends most of its marketing. The self-paced PMP course includes 750+ questions and a sample exam. A separate product, “PMP Exams, Math Lectures and Flash Cards,” adds 1,600+ sample exam questions, 30+ lectures and flash cards for $79.99 a month. Trustpilot reviewers repeatedly mention its nine full mock exams: a July 2026 reviewer who passed first time recommended buying the mocks after finishing the course, and a 2021 reviewer said they helped with timing.
Opinions on how close the questions are to the real exam differ. One 2023 reviewer found the mock tests a little harder than the actual PMP, which is the useful direction. Two older reviews (2021 and 2022) said the questions were outdated or did not match the real CAPM. The PMP changed again on 9 July 2026, so whichever bank you use, check that it says it was updated for the current exam. Free Master of Project Academy courses
MoPA’s free catalog is real but short. It currently lists a free PMP training course, a free CAPM course (one hour), a free PMI-ACP course, a 30-minute Six Sigma course, a Microsoft Project basics course, a Scrum Master course, and a free PMP PDU bundle worth 4 PDUs for renewal. These are introductions and samples, not the full 35-hour course. Our 2021 review said the full PMP training with a certificate was free; that is not the case.
Is Master of Project Academy legit?
Yes: it is an established company with a long track record, real instructors and many reviews from students who passed. But several marketing claims are hard to check, and we would not base a decision on them:

None of this makes MoPA a bad buy. It means you should judge it by the course itself (try a free course first) and by its refund terms, not by its headline numbers.
The 7-day money-back guarantee, in detail
MoPA’s refund page offers a 7-day “Fast-Track” guarantee on individual courses, bundles and monthly subscriptions. Its fair-use conditions matter:
- You must have completed less than 10% of the course.
- No certificate of completion may have been generated.
- No sign of bulk downloading or heavy “cramming” logins before the refund request.
- Excluded once accessed: corporate and group training, live classes and one-to-one coaching, CSM, CSPO and SAFe trainings, and digital products such as the PMP exam simulator, templates and eBooks.
- Request by email to info@masterofproject.com; MoPA says it usually processes requests in 1 to 2 business days, up to 10 in some cases.
After seven days you can cancel a monthly subscription at any time to stop future charges. In practice: decide within the first few lessons.
What students say
We read the 45 most recent Trustpilot reviews (24 October 2026): 31 five-star, 7 four-star, 1 two-star and 2 one-star. Positive reviews describe a well-structured PMP course that was enough to pass first time, clear material that is easy to study around a job, helpful live instructors, and useful mock exams. Several CAPM students say the course alone prepared them. The three negative reviews in the sample (all from 2021 and 2022) said practice questions did not match the real exam or were outdated, and that the course was narrated slides with typos.
Reddit is cooler. In r/pmp threads, one learner who bought the CAPM course found it adequate but dull and chose Andrew Ramdayal’s Udemy course for the PMP because it was more engaging and cheaper on sale. Another commenter said MoPA’s 1,600-question simulator was interesting but thought the separate math lectures were unnecessary.

Who should enroll
Choose MoPA if you want a single, complete PMP or CAPM course at a predictable monthly price, you will study steadily for one to three months, and you like reading slides and handouts as well as watching videos. Its PDU bundles also suit PMPs who need 60 PDUs to renew.
Skip it if you need an instructor-led class that will count after 1 December 2026 (use a PMI Authorized Training Partner), if you want the most engaging teacher (try Ramdayal first), or if you are unsure you will start right away (the refund window is short).
Military and veterans
MoPA runs a program for armed service members, veterans and spouses, with group enrollment for organizations and individual enrollment by email with proof of service. It lists a SAM.gov CAGE code (9CNY0) for government buyers. If you are a veteran, ask about the program before paying full price.
