  • Two plans: Self-Study ($497/yr standard, $347.90 with MAY26) and Full-Immersion ($847/yr standard, $592.90 with MAY26).
  • Both plans unlock everything: 250+ courses, all 7 accredited certifications (FMVA, FPAP, CMSA, CBCA, BIDA, FPWMP, FTIP), 17 specializations, 550+ CPE/CPD credits, blockchain-verified credentials.
  • The $254 gap buys: AI Tutor (instant Q&A), 1-on-1 expert guidance, personalized model reviews, $300+ in finance-tool discounts, and the curated finance job board.
  • Annual only. No monthly option, no pay-per-course tier in 2026. Auto-renews unless you cancel.
  • Skip CFI if: You only need one narrow skill (Excel-only learners are better off with a Udemy single-purchase course), or if you're prepping for the CFA exam (CFA prep is a separate domain — see our best CFA courses guide).

Corporate Finance Institute restructured its pricing around two annual tiers. There's no longer a free-courses-only tier (those moved behind a free account), no monthly option, and no per-course pricing. The choice is binary: do you want guided/coached access (Full-Immersion) or self-paced (Self-Study)?

Plan Standard price With MAY26 code Best for
Self-Study $497/yr $347.90/yr Independent learners on a defined goal (FMVA, CMSA) with discipline to self-pace
Full-Immersion $847/yr $592.90/yr Career-switchers, advanced learners doing model reviews, anyone wanting the AI Tutor + 1-on-1 support

What both plans include (everything you actually need)

Here's the part CFI doesn't make obvious: both Self-Study and Full-Immersion unlock identical content access. All 250+ courses, all 7 accredited certifications, all 17 specializations. The Self-Study tier is not a "lite" version — it's the same curriculum without the coaching layer.

  • 250+ on-demand courses — covers financial modeling, valuation, accounting, Excel, FP&A, ESG, fintech, ML for finance, and more
  • All 7 accredited certifications:
    • FMVA (Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst) — CFI's flagship, what most people buy CFI for
    • FPAP (FP&A Professional)
    • CMSA (Capital Markets & Securities Analyst)
    • CBCA (Commercial Banking & Credit Analyst)
    • BIDA (Business Intelligence & Data Analyst)
    • FPWMP (Financial Planning & Wealth Management Professional)
    • FTIP (FinTech Industry Professional)
  • 17 skill-focused specializations — tighter than full certifications, useful for narrow upskilling
  • 550+ verifiable CPE/CPD credits — counts toward continuing education for CPAs, CFAs, and licensed finance pros
  • Excel + financial model templates — the practical bonus most CFI learners actually use day-to-day
  • 20+ multilingual subtitles
  • Blockchain-verified digital certificates — sharable on LinkedIn, employer-verifiable

If you're going to do more than one certification, CFI's bundled pricing is a near-impossible value to beat. Compare against single-cert programs like Wall Street Prep ($499+ per cert), Breaking Into Wall Street ($497+ per cert), or NYIF ($1,500+ per cert) — CFI's $347.90 unlocks all 7.

What Full-Immersion adds for the extra $245

This is where the real CFI pricing decision lives. The $245 gap between Self-Study and Full-Immersion (or $254 at standard pricing) buys five distinct things:

  1. AI Tutor — CFI's GPT-4-class chatbot trained on their curriculum. Instant answers to "why does this formula reference column M?" or "what's the difference between FCFF and FCFE?" Worth the upgrade alone if you study at night and have nobody to ask.
  2. 1-on-1 guidance from experts — Office hours and direct messages with CFI instructors. Capped at reasonable usage; not unlimited.
  3. Personalized financial model review — Submit your work, get back instructor feedback. This is the closest thing to a real internship-quality critique that exists at this price point.
  4. $300+ in finance-tool discounts — Discounts on FactSet, S&P Capital IQ Pro, Excel add-ins, financial-modeling templates. The real value here depends on whether you'd buy these tools anyway.
  5. Curated finance job board — CFI-vetted listings, less noise than LinkedIn. Useful if you're transitioning into finance.

Who should pick Self-Study ($347.90)

  • You have one specific certification target (FMVA is the most common) and a clear timeline to finish it
  • You're already in finance — you don't need coaching, you need credential
  • You're disciplined with self-paced learning and don't get stuck on individual concepts
  • You can replace the AI Tutor with ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini for general questions
  • The $245 gap is meaningful to your budget right now

Who should pick Full-Immersion ($592.90)

  • You're transitioning into finance from another field — the 1-on-1 guidance + job board justify the upgrade
  • You learn faster with feedback loops — submitted-model reviews are a force multiplier
  • You're doing 2+ certifications and the AI Tutor will save you hours per week
  • You'd use the $300+ tool discounts (especially FactSet or S&P Capital IQ Pro)
  • Your employer is reimbursing — if you're not paying personally, take the upgrade

Who should skip CFI entirely

  • CFA candidates. CFI doesn't prep you for the CFA exam. See our best CFA prep guide instead (Kaplan Schweser, Mark Meldrum, or Bloomberg Exam Prep are the leaders).
  • Excel-only learners. If you just want to learn Excel deeply, a $14 Udemy course (Leila Gharani, Excel TV, or Maven Analytics) delivers more efficiently than CFI's broader curriculum.
  • Investment banking interview prep. CFI's curriculum is broader than IB-specific. Wall Street Prep and Breaking Into Wall Street are tighter fits.
  • People who hate self-paced learning. CFI is genuinely self-paced. If you need cohort-based deadlines, structured calendars, and live classes, look at Coursera specializations or in-person bootcamps.

CFI student and team pricing

Separate from the public Self-Study/Full-Immersion plans:

  • Student pricing: CFI offers discounted access for current university students. Verify via CFI's student pricing page — pricing varies and requires .edu email verification.
  • Team plans: Volume discounts available for organizations. Pricing scales by seats and isn't publicly listed — you contact CFI's team sales for a quote.

CFI vs alternatives: pricing-matched comparison

Provider Annual cost Certifications included Best vs CFI when…
CFI Self-Study $347.90 (with MAY26) All 7
Wall Street Prep $499–$2,000+ per cert Single cert per purchase You're targeting IB interviews specifically
Breaking Into Wall Street $497+ per cert Single cert per purchase You want LBO/M&A depth specifically
Coursera Plus $399/yr University-issued (not finance-specific) You want academic credentials over industry-recognized
CFA Institute Self-Study $1,200+ per exam level CFA (3 levels, 2-4 years) You're targeting buy-side / PM roles — CFA dominates there

CFI's biggest pricing argument: if you'd do more than one certification, no other provider gets close. Two single-cert purchases elsewhere already exceed CFI's annual price.

CFI pricing FAQ

Does CFI offer a free trial?

CFI offers free account registration that unlocks a small set of preview courses, but there's no time-limited full-access trial of Self-Study or Full-Immersion. For full course access, you commit to the annual subscription. The 30% MAY26 promo softens the entry cost considerably.

Does CFI have a refund policy?

CFI doesn't publish a public money-back guarantee on its pricing page. Refunds appear to be handled case-by-case via support. Treat the annual fee as committed once paid, and use the free account to verify CFI's teaching style suits you before subscribing.

Can I pay monthly instead of annually?

No. CFI moved away from monthly pricing and only offers annual billing in 2026. Effective monthly cost: $29/month for Self-Study (with MAY26), $49/month for Full-Immersion. There's no Pluralsight-style monthly subscription option.

Do CFI certifications expire?

The certifications themselves don't expire — once earned, they're permanently yours and verifiable via blockchain. However, ongoing access to courses, templates, and CPE/CPD credit tracking requires an active annual subscription. If you let your subscription lapse, you keep your cert but lose access to refresher materials.

Is CFI better than CFA?

They serve different purposes. CFA is a 3-level, 2-4-year credential that dominates buy-side and portfolio-management hiring. CFI's FMVA is a financial-modeling certification recognized in IB, corporate finance, FP&A, and consulting. Most finance pros find them complementary, not substitutes — CFI for practical modeling skills, CFA for asset-management credibility.

How much does the FMVA cost specifically?

You can't buy the FMVA alone — it's included in both Self-Study ($347.90 with MAY26) and Full-Immersion ($592.90 with MAY26). Effectively, $347.90 is the minimum price to earn the FMVA. There's no à-la-carte FMVA purchase option in CFI's 2026 pricing.

Can I expense CFI on my taxes?

In the US, professional certification programs related to your existing job may be deductible as unreimbursed employee expenses (changed substantially after TCJA) or as a business expense if you're self-employed. Consult your tax professional — this isn't tax advice. Many employers also reimburse CFI directly as a professional development benefit.

What happens if I subscribe and then change my mind?

Annual subscriptions auto-renew. Cancel any time from your account settings — cancellation prevents the next year's charge but doesn't refund the current year. Cancel and you keep access through the end of the paid period.
