The content is current and useful for decision-makers. What Is Cloud Computing for Business Leaders?
This is Udacity’s cloud course for people who sign off on cloud projects rather than build them. Udacity’s own summary is that it teaches leaders to analyze AI proposals through the lens of cloud: weigh the cost, spot the risk and apply well-architected thinking. There is no coding and no console work.
The August 2026 update changed the program substantially. The earlier version, which this review described, was a 19-hour course with a module on migration patterns (lift-and-shift, refactor, replatform) and a capstone in which you wrote a strategic cloud adoption plan. The current syllabus is 10 hours, puts AI workloads and cost control at the center, and replaces the capstone with a proposal review. We have rewritten this review to match it.
Curriculum: The 11 Lessons
Apart from short welcome and wrap-up modules, the program is a single 9-hour course, Cloud Computing for Business Leaders, with these lessons in order:

Two themes run through it. The first is that AI changes cloud economics: agents and model calls are priced differently from servers, and their costs are harder to predict. The second is accountability: a leader can transfer some risk to a cloud provider but still owns it, and governance has to keep spending visible without blocking new work.
The project: Evaluating a Cloud Proposal
You review a first-time cloud migration proposal for a system Udacity calls DCD. You identify its strengths, gaps, risks and hidden assumptions, write the sharp questions you would put to the team, and build a real cloud cost estimate of your own. A Udacity reviewer checks the work. It is the most practical part of the course, because it is exactly what a manager does when a proposal lands on the desk.
Prerequisites
None. Udacity states that no prior technical experience is required. A working knowledge of budgeting and how your organization approves projects will help you get more from the cost and governance lessons.
How Much Does the Cloud Computing for Business Leaders Nanodegree Cost?
Udacity sells its Nanodegrees two ways: as part of a subscription to the whole catalog, or as a one-time purchase of a single program. These are the list prices on the program page on 11 October 2026 (see also Udacity pricing):

Udacity estimates 10 hours for this program. That is short enough to finish in two or three weeks, so one month of the subscription (about $150 with the new-member offer) is the sensible way to buy it. The 4-month prepay and the $999 one-time purchase are poor value for a 10-hour course unless you plan to take other Udacity programs too.

Google Cloud Digital Leader Training is the closest alternative. Its six short courses on Coursera cover digital transformation, data, AI, modernization, security and operations from a business point of view. It is rated 4.8 from 4,878 reviews, and it prepares you for Google’s Cloud Digital Leader certification (a 90-minute exam of 50 to 60 questions, $99). See Cloud Digital Leader training on Coursera.
AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials, taught by AWS on Coursera and rated 4.8 from 2,096 reviews, is the starting point for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. Both are entry-level certifications that need no hands-on cloud experience, and both come from the cloud providers themselves, which Udacity’s certificate does not. Udacity’s course is the better choice when your goal is judging proposals and costs rather than earning a credential.

- Thin for the price. $249 a month for 10 hours is expensive unless you finish fast or use the subscription for other programs.
- No provider certification. The Udacity certificate is not a Google or AWS certification.
- One instructor and no learner rating yet. There is little outside evidence of quality for the new version.
- Less on migration. The earlier version’s migration-planning material has been cut.
Who Should Take It?
Take it if you are a manager, product leader or finance or operations executive who reviews cloud and AI proposals and wants a fast, structured way to ask better questions about cost and risk. Skip it if you want a credential (choose Google Cloud Digital Leader or AWS Cloud Practitioner) or hands-on skills (see our cloud certifications guide and AWS vs Azure comparison). Buy one month, finish it, and pair it with a Google Cloud Digital Leader or AWS Cloud Practitioner certification if you need something on your resume.
