How Often Does Udemy Have Sales? What Udemy’s Own Data Shows (2026)

Udemy courses are on sale most of the time. Udemy does not publish a sale calendar, but its own help center explains how the discounts work, and the promotional materials it gives affiliates show when each sale starts and ends. This guide uses those primary sources to answer how often Udemy has sales, when the next one is, and whether waiting is worth it.

Short answer

  • How often: almost continuously. Short themed sales of a few days follow one another, and most popular courses sell for about $10 to $20 during them.
  • Biggest event: Black Friday to Cyber Monday (late November); deal sites also report a large New Year sale each January.
  • Right now (11 October 2026): Udemy’s “Boost Your Value” sale (up to 85% off, 11 to 15 October in its affiliate materials) and a first-purchase offer for new US customers through 31 December 2026.
  • Should you wait? Only if your course is near full price today.

Most of the time. Udemy instructors set a list price for each course, but by default their courses are enrolled in the Udemy Deals Program. That program lets Udemy offer the course at a discount “in different markets around the world”, with promotional prices set by data science and economic models that weigh the course’s category, length, competition and sales history. The result is a rolling series of promotions rather than a few annual events.

Udemy’s affiliate program shows the rhythm. The sale banners and links Udemy gives its affiliates on the Impact network carry start and end dates. These were in the library when we pulled it on 11 October 2026:

Promotion (Udemy’s name) Dates Discount stated Market
Cyber Week sale from 18 Nov 2025 up to 85% off courses Germany (creative in German)
“Build your routine” from 13 Mar 2026 up to 40% Germany
AI course category offer 31 Aug to 31 Dec 2026 AI courses up to 85% off United States and others
New-customer offer 6 Oct to 31 Dec 2026 top courses at 85% off on a first visit United States
“Future-proof your career” 4 Oct to 7 Nov 2026 up to 50% Australia
“Boost Your Value” 11 to 15 Oct 2026 up to 85% Canada, US Spanish, Brazil, Germany and others

Two things stand out. Sales are short, often four or five days, and they overlap: a sitewide promotion, a category offer and a new-customer price can all be live at once. Discounts also differ by country; in the same October sale, some markets were offered up to 85% off and others 20% or 40%.

Udemy Sale Discounts by Country

The same sale does not mean the same discount everywhere. In the “Boost Your Value” sale of 11 to 15 October 2026, Udemy’s affiliate creatives stated these maximum discounts:

Market Maximum discount stated
Canada, US (Spanish), Brazil, Germany, Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan/Chinese-language up to 85%
Italy up to 40%
France, Indonesia, Poland up to 20%
Australia (separate sale, 4 Oct to 7 Nov 2026) up to 50%

The first-purchase offer varies the same way: Udemy’s creatives promised 85% off for new customers in the US and Germany, 80% in the UK and Singapore, 45% in Australia and 30% in France. If you compare prices with a friend in another country, expect them to differ.

What a Udemy Sale Price Looks Like

Udemy does not set one sale price for everything. Its models give each course its own promotional price range, adjusted over time to how well the course sells at each price. Udemy’s own instructor documentation gives a typical example: a course “generally selling between $14.99 and $19.99 during promotions”. For popular courses in the US, expect sale prices in roughly that band, with $9.99 as the floor.

That has two practical consequences. First, the percentage in a sale banner (“up to 85% off”) is a ceiling, not what every course gets. Second, the dollar difference between sales is small: a course that is $14.99 in one promotion is rarely much cheaper in the next one.

Is Udemy Always on Sale? Why the Price Keeps Changing

Close to it, which is why the price of a course you saw yesterday may be different today. Udemy’s pricing FAQ for learners says promotions “may be run that target different regions, markets, or prospective learners”, and that you should log in to see the latest promotion for your account. Three other rules explain most price swings:

  • A price floor. Under the Deals Program, Udemy will not sell a course below $9.99 in the US (or the local equivalent), except through resellers.
  • Personalized and regional pricing. Udemy uses a country-specific price matrix, so the same course costs different amounts in different countries.
  • App prices differ. Courses bought in the iOS or Android app follow Apple’s and Google’s price tiers, and you cannot enter coupon codes in the app, so the website is often cheaper during a sale.

List prices for popular courses run well over $100, which makes a $15 sale price look like an 85% to 90% discount. Treat the list price as an anchor, not as what the course usually costs. Our guide to how much Udemy costs breaks down typical prices.

When Is the Next Udemy Sale?

As of 11 October 2026, two offers are live in Udemy’s affiliate materials: the “Boost Your Value” sale (up to 85% off, 11 to 15 October) and the first-purchase offer for new US customers, which runs to 31 December 2026. Udemy does not announce sales in advance, so the most reliable way to find the next one is to watch for it, as covered below.

The next large, predictable event is Black Friday and Cyber Monday in late November. Udemy’s 2025 Cyber Week creative for Germany offered up to 85% off from 18 November. Our Black Friday online course deals page tracks what Udemy and other platforms offer as the sales go live, and our Udemy coupon guide covers codes and first-purchase discounts.

The Udemy Sale Pattern Across a Year

Udemy has never published a fixed schedule, and the exact dates that coupon blogs list often fail to repeat. The pattern below combines Udemy’s own affiliate materials with what deal sites report each year:

  • New Year (January): reported by deal sites each year as a large sale aimed at learning resolutions.
  • Spring and summer: themed sales of a few days each, often tied to careers, AI or “new skills”.
  • Late summer: career and AI themed offers; Udemy’s AI course category offer began on 31 August 2026.
  • Black Friday to Cyber Monday (late November): the headline event, which Udemy calls Cyber Week in some markets.
  • In between: short flash sales, category offers (such as AI courses) and new-customer prices.

Because the gap between a routine sale and a “big” sale is usually a few dollars on a popular course, the calendar matters less than it seems. It matters most for expensive courses that are rarely discounted and for buying several courses at once.

Are Udemy Sales Real?

Yes. The sale price is the price you pay at checkout, and eligible courses can be refunded within 30 days (sometimes as Udemy credit) if the course is not what you expected. What is not real is the idea that the list price is the normal price: with promotions running most of the year, few people pay it.

The economics explain why Udemy discounts so heavily. Under Udemy’s revenue share, an instructor keeps 97% of a sale made through their own coupon or referral link, and 37% of every other sale, including sales from Udemy’s own promotions. Udemy keeps the larger share of sales it generates, and frequent low prices bring in far more buyers than high list prices would.

Why Is My Udemy Course Not on Sale?

  • The instructor opted out. Instructors can leave the Deals Program, and Udemy says courses outside it are not included in sitewide discount campaigns.
  • The course is new. Paid courses are not discounted in Udemy promotions for their first 14 days in countries including the US, France, Japan and Turkey.
  • It is not in this promotion. Udemy says inclusion is “not guaranteed” and depends on topic, enrollments, conversions, ratings, reviews and learner behavior such as wishlisting.
  • You are seeing a different price. Prices vary by country, by account and between the app and the website. Log in on the website to see your price.

Should You Wait for a Udemy Sale?

Use the price you see today to decide:

  • Under about $20: buy now. The next sale is unlikely to save more than a few dollars, and the 30-day refund covers you if the course disappoints.
  • At or near list price: wait. A promotion is usually days away, not months.
  • Planning several courses: buy them in the same sale, or compare the Udemy Personal Plan if you will take eight or more a year.
  • Need it for work this week: buy it; the saving from waiting is small next to your time.

Udemy Black Friday and Cyber Monday: What to Expect

Black Friday is the one Udemy event worth planning around if you want several courses. Expect a sitewide promotion with a headline discount of up to 85%, sale prices on popular courses in the usual low band, and the event extended into Cyber Monday or a full Cyber Week in some markets, as in Germany in 2025.

  • Before the sale: wishlist the courses you want and note today’s price, so you can see whether the Black Friday price is actually lower.
  • During the sale: buy on the website while logged in, and check each course; not every course is included.
  • If you are new to Udemy: the first-purchase offer runs through 31 December 2026, so your first course may be cheapest with that offer rather than the Black Friday price.
  • Compare platforms: other course platforms run their deepest sales of the year at the same time; our Black Friday course deals page lists them side by side.

Personal Plan vs Waiting for Sales

If you take many courses, the Udemy Personal Plan can beat even the best sale. It costs about $13 a month billed annually (roughly $156 a year) and includes about 28,000 courses, plus Udemy’s Career Accelerators, which group courses into paths for roles such as Full Stack Web Developer and Data Scientist.

At sale prices of $12 to $20 per course, the plan breaks even at about eight to ten courses a year. Below that, buying on sale is cheaper and you keep lifetime access to each course. Two caveats: not every course is in the plan, and the Personal Plan has no 30-day refund, while eligible individual courses do.

Is Udemy Cheaper on the App?

Usually not. Udemy says prices in its iOS and Android apps follow Apple’s and Google’s price tiers, so they can differ slightly from the website, and you cannot enter coupon codes in the app. Buy on udemy.com while logged in; the course then appears in the app automatically.

How to Pay the Lowest Price on Udemy

  1. Use your first purchase well. New customers are shown an extra-low first-purchase price (85% off top courses in the US offer running to 31 December 2026). Spend it on the course you want most.
  2. Buy on the website, logged in. That shows the promotion Udemy has for your account and lets you enter coupon codes, which the app does not.
  3. Look for instructor coupons. Instructors can issue “best price” coupons (valid 5 days), “custom price” coupons (31 days) and free coupons limited to 10 enrollments or 5 days, per Udemy’s rules. Instructors often share them on their own sites, YouTube channels and newsletters.
  4. Wishlist the course. Wishlisting is one of the signals Udemy uses when choosing courses for promotions, and it makes it easy to check prices later.
  5. Compare the Personal Plan. At about $13 a month billed annually (roughly $156 a year) for about 28,000 courses, it beats buying individually if you take eight to ten courses a year.
  6. Ask about work access. If your employer uses Udemy Business, you may already have the courses free.

Avoid account tricks such as creating new accounts or using a VPN to chase first-purchase prices. They break Udemy’s terms, can cost you access to courses you paid for, and save very little compared with simply buying during a sale.

Udemy Coupon Codes vs Udemy Sales

Udemy does not publish sitewide coupon codes. During a sale the discount is applied automatically, so you do not need a code. The codes you see online are almost all instructor coupons for a single course, and they expire within 5 days (best price) or 31 days (custom price), or after 10 enrollments for free coupons. A code rarely beats the sale price by much, because Udemy sets the lowest coupon price near its own promotional price. Our Udemy coupon guide explains which codes are real and where instructors share them.

Udemy Through Work or School

Before buying anything, check whether you already have access. Many companies give employees Udemy Business, a separate catalog of curated courses, and Udemy’s about page lists 17,000+ enterprise customers. Some universities and government programs offer it too. If you have it, those courses are free to you, although they are not the same as the full public marketplace.

How to Know When a New Udemy Sale Starts

  • Udemy emails: sale announcements go to account holders who allow promotional email.
  • Course pages: during a promotion, Udemy course pages show the discounted price next to the list price, so a wishlisted course tells you when a sale has started.
  • Your wishlist: check it every week or two; prices on wishlisted courses change with each promotion.
  • Our deal pages: the Black Friday tracker and Udemy coupon guide are updated when major sales start.

How to Get Free Courses on Udemy

Udemy also has free courses. Use the Price filter on any search or category page and choose “Free”. They are usually short and, unlike paid courses, do not include a certificate of completion or instructor Q&A, but they are a good way to try a topic or an instructor before buying a full course. Free instructor coupons for paid courses exist too, but they run out after 10 enrollments or 5 days, so most “100% off” lists on coupon sites are already expired.

The Bottom Line

Udemy sells most courses at a discount most of the time, through short, overlapping promotions rather than a few big annual events. If a course you want is under about $20, buy it; if it is near full price, wait a few days. Save big multi-course purchases for New Year or Black Friday, and compare the Personal Plan if you study constantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often does Udemy have sales?

Almost constantly. Most courses are in the Udemy Deals Program, which lets Udemy discount them in short promotions that follow one another through the year. The largest is Black Friday to Cyber Monday in late November, with shorter themed sales of a few days in between.

Is Udemy always on sale?

Not every course, every day, but close. A course can be excluded if its instructor has opted out of the Deals Program, if it was published in the last 14 days (in the US), or simply because Udemy did not include it in a particular promotion.

When is the next Udemy sale?

As of 11 October 2026, Udemy’s affiliate materials list a “Boost Your Value” sale with up to 85% off running from 11 to 15 October, and a first-purchase offer for new US customers through 31 December 2026. The next large event is Black Friday and Cyber Monday in late November.

How much are Udemy courses on sale?

Usually between about $10 and $20 for popular courses in the US, with $9.99 as the lowest price Udemy’s Deals Program allows. List prices go well above $100, which is why the discounts look so large.

Are Udemy sales real?

Yes. You pay the price shown at checkout, and eligible courses can be refunded within 30 days. The list price is mostly an anchor: few people pay it, because promotions run most of the year.

Why is my Udemy course not on sale?

Its instructor may have opted out of Udemy’s promotions, it may be newly published, or it may not be in the current promotion. Prices also differ by country, account and device, so log in on the website to see the price Udemy offers you.

How long do Udemy sales last?

Most run for about four or five days; the October 2026 “Boost Your Value” sale ran from 11 to 15 October. Category offers and the first-purchase offer for new customers can run for months.

Does Udemy have a sale every month?

In practice, yes. Promotions follow one another through the year, and a category offer or new-customer price is usually live even between sitewide sales. Udemy does not publish the schedule.

Should I wait for a Udemy sale?

Only if the course is at or near list price today. If it is already under $20, the next sale is unlikely to save more than a few dollars.
