upGrad’s full stack program is now called the Executive Post Graduate Certification in AI-Powered Full Stack Development, awarded by IIIT Bangalore. It runs 9.5 months online and covers Java, data structures and algorithms, React, Node and Express, MongoDB, AI coding tools and system design. On 13 October 2026 it was listed on KnowledgeHut, an upGrad company, with no published fee and no upcoming batch; upGrad’s US site sells a different IIT Kharagpur program instead.

- Best for: Indian graduates, including non-CS graduates, who want a university-branded certificate, a long structured schedule with heavy data structures and algorithms practice, and live sessions, and who can confirm the fee and batch in writing first.
- Not for: self-motivated learners who only need the skills (Codecademy, Coursera and Udacity teach the same stack for far less), or anyone outside India.
Bottom line: the syllabus is broad and sensibly ordered, and the 3-month data structures block is good interview preparation. The weak points are cost opacity, a strict no-refund-after-start policy, and upGrad’s mixed record on placement support.

This page originally reviewed upGrad’s Executive PG Programme in Software Development with a Full Stack Development specialization from IIIT Bangalore, a 13-month program. It has since been rebuilt and renamed:

Two status points matter before you go further. KnowledgeHut’s schedule section said no schedules were available on 13 October 2026, so ask admissions whether a batch is actually open. And upGrad’s US site no longer offers this program at all; US visitors are shown IIT Kharagpur’s AI-Native Software Engineering certificate, covered later on this page.
Who Should Take It?
The program is built for working professionals in India who want to move into software development, and for junior developers who want a structured route to full stack work. KnowledgeHut’s listing names a broad audience, from software engineers and IT staff to business analysts, project managers, data scientists and career changers.
- Good fit: a graduate who has tried free tutorials and stalled, and who will keep going with deadlines, live sessions and a mentor.
- Good fit: someone preparing for Indian product company interviews, where data structures and algorithms rounds are standard.
- Poor fit: an experienced developer who wants AI engineering depth (the IIT Kharagpur program, or a dedicated AI course, suits you better).
- Poor fit: anyone outside India, or anyone who cannot afford to lose the fee if life gets in the way after the start date.
Prerequisites and Admission
From the listing’s eligibility FAQ on 13 October 2026:
- A bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks. If you scored below 50% as an undergraduate but above 50% in a postgraduate qualification, you can still apply.
- No degree subject restriction; non-CS graduates are accepted.
- Prior coding experience is not required. If you have little, a pre-program Java crash course is mandatory.
- Final-year undergraduates are covered in the FAQ; ask admissions about your case.
Admission follows upGrad’s usual pattern: apply online, get shortlisted, and pay a caution amount to reserve your seat. That deposit is where several 2026 complaints start, so read the next section before you pay it.
Cost, Duration and Refund Terms
The fee is not published. KnowledgeHut’s listing has no price, and IIIT Bangalore’s brochure says to refer to the website or speak to an admissions counselor, adding that fees and payment options are subject to change. The listing advertises a no-cost EMI option through partner banks.
The program runs 9.5 months online. upGrad says 10 to 15 hours a week should be enough to finish; IIIT Bangalore’s brochure lists 45 live sessions, 7+ case studies and projects, 7+ tools and languages, and 300+ hours of content.

Compare that with Udacity or Coursera, where you can cancel a monthly subscription at any time. The upGrad model asks for a large upfront commitment, so confirm the batch date, fee and any promises in writing before paying the deposit.

Three things stand out. The program teaches Java for fundamentals but builds web apps on the JavaScript stack (React, Node, Express, MongoDB), so you learn two languages. Data structures and algorithms take almost a third of the time, which reflects how Indian tech companies interview. And the AI tools module is short: one month on using assistants well, not on building AI systems.
upGrad’s FAQ also mentions a complimentary 4-month Data Science and Machine Learning certification and a 12-week software development fundamentals course for non-tech learners. Ask whether both are still included in your batch.
Is one month on AI tools enough?
For a full stack developer, probably yes as a starting point. The module teaches you to use assistants such as GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT to scaffold front and back ends faster, which is now an everyday skill. It does not teach you to build AI features: retrieval, agents, evaluation and model security are out of scope. If that is your goal, the IIT Kharagpur program below, or a dedicated AI engineering course, goes much further.
Industry Projects
Beyond the course projects, the brochure lists industry projects including:
- AutoMarket Hub: a vehicle marketplace application.
- Culinary Compass: a restaurant discovery app with details such as operating hours and menu highlights, used to practice UML, JUnit and Mockito testing, object-oriented design and test-driven development.
- PhoneSphere Explorer: a front end application for browsing phones.
- Capstone: a full stack application that applies the system design module.
Projects are only as useful as what you can explain about them. Put each one on GitHub with a clear README, and be ready to talk through the data model and the trade-offs you made; that matters more in an interview than the certificate.

upGrad bundles career support with the program. From the listing and brochure:
- A career transition bootcamp with interview questions curated from large tech companies, and a data structures and algorithms bootcamp certificate.
- 1:1 career mentorship sessions and personalized high-performance coaching.
- Just-in-time interview preparation, which upGrad says is scheduled within 48 hours of an upcoming interview for eligible programs.
- An AI-driven resume score, resume and LinkedIn tools, and access to an exclusive job opportunities portal.
None of this is a job guarantee. Ask admissions which companies hired graduates of the last two batches, and into what roles.
Can I Get a Job After upGrad’s Full Stack Program?
You can, but the program gives you preparation, not a placement. The job market for developers is still large: the US Bureau of Labor Statistics put the median wage for web developers at $92,650 in May 2025, and software developers at $135,980, with software developer employment projected to grow 10 percent from 2025 to 2035. Entry-level hiring is tighter than those numbers suggest, and employers now expect developers to use AI coding tools well.
What gets a career changer hired is a portfolio of two or three working projects, solid data structures practice, and the ability to explain your code. How to Get the Most Out of the Program
Learners who finish long programs like this one usually prepare before day one and treat the projects as portfolio pieces rather than homework. A practical plan:
- Before the start date: finish the Java crash course if you are assigned it, and do a few weeks of basic JavaScript practice so the front end stage is not your first contact with the language.
- During the data structures block: solve problems daily on a practice site as well as the course set; interviewers expect fluency, not recognition.
- During the front and back end stages: build one project of your own alongside the course projects, using the same stack, so you have something original to show.
- During the AI module: use the assistants on your own project and note where they help and where they produce bugs; that makes a good interview story.
- Before the capstone ends: deploy your projects, write clear READMEs, and book the mock interviews while support is still active.
Plan for the 10 to 15 hours a week upGrad suggests, and protect that time. Falling behind is costly when refunds stop at the start date and deferral carries a fee.

We found no recent first-hand reviews of this specific program. Reviews of upGrad as a whole are the closest guide. Of the 60 newest rated reviews on upGrad’s Trustpilot profile (8 July to 12 October 2026; 683 reviews and a 3.7 TrustScore on 13 October), 33 were five-star and 13 were one-star.
- Praised: structured content, helpful coordinators and buddies, and projects that help beginners.
- Criticized: placement support that did not match what counselors promised, slow support after payment, deposits not refunded after document checks, and deferral requests refused once a batch began.

If you visit upGrad from the US, this is the software program you will see instead. It is aimed at working developers, not beginners. From upGrad’s US program page on 13 October 2026:

upGrad’s AI-Powered Full Stack Development program from IIIT Bangalore has a sensible syllabus, a strong interview-preparation block and a university certificate. Against it are an unpublished fee, a strict refund policy and no listed batch on 13 October 2026. If you are in India, want structure and can get the fee, batch date and placement promises in writing, it is a reasonable choice. If you only need the skills, Codecademy, Meta’s Coursera certificates or Udacity cost far less. Experienced developers aiming at AI should look at the IIT Kharagpur program instead.
