QUICK VERDICT

Our rating: 3.8 / 5

  • Best for: Marketers and analysts who want structured, project-based GA4 practice with reviewer feedback, especially in ecommerce.
  • Not for: Anyone who only needs to pass Google’s own Analytics certification, or who wants SQL and BigQuery depth.

Bottom line: Udacity’s Google Analytics 4 Nanodegree (nd525) is a 22-hour, beginner-level program in two real courses: GA4 reporting and GA4 for ecommerce. Its value is the two reviewed projects, an executive marketing report and an audit and rebuilt Looker Studio dashboard for the Google Merchandise Store. The material is current GA4, not Universal Analytics. But Google teaches the product for free on Skillshop, so the Nanodegree is worth paying for only if you want the projects and feedback.

What Is the Udacity Google Analytics 4 Nanodegree?

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is Google’s current analytics product. It measures websites and apps with events rather than sessions, and it fully replaced Universal Analytics: standard Universal Analytics properties stopped processing data on July 1, 2023, according to Google’s migration notes. Anyone who learned the older tool has had to relearn reporting, conversion tracking and ecommerce setup.

This Nanodegree teaches GA4 from the account level up. You set up a property and data stream, install tracking through Google Tag Manager, build standard and custom reports, track ecommerce with GA4’s recommended events, and turn the data into Looker Studio dashboards. The syllabus uses GA4’s current vocabulary, such as key events, and each of the two main courses ends in a project a Udacity reviewer checks.

An earlier version of this review described a fourth module on BigQuery, with SQL queries against raw event data, predictive audiences and cross-platform identity stitching. That is not in the program. BigQuery appears as one topic, linking GA4 to BigQuery, inside the Configuration Essentials lesson. We have corrected the review.

Curriculum: Courses and Projects

Course Hours What it covers Project
1. Welcome to the Nanodegree Program 0.75 How Udacity works and how to get help –
2. Google Analytics 4 Essentials 9 Setting up a GA4 account, standard reports (Users, Acquisition, Engagement), custom reports with filters, segments and Explore, exporting data, and advertising measurement with Looker Studio Executive Marketing Report
3. Google Analytics 4 for Ecommerce 12 Data streams and installing GA4 with Google Tag Manager, preview and debug, access and privacy settings, the BigQuery link, ecommerce tracking with recommended events, monetization reports, audiences, and Looker Studio dashboards with blends and joins Google Merchandise Store Dashboard
4. Congratulations 0.2 Program wrap-up –

Google Analytics 4 Essentials (9 hours)

The first full course covers web analytics fundamentals and GA4’s Reports tab: who your users are (Users), where they come from (Acquisition) and what they do (Engagement). You then customize reports with filters, segments and templates, build your own in Explore, export data to Google Sheets, and move into advertising measurement with Looker Studio charts and dashboards.

Project: Executive Marketing Report. The course closes with a reviewed project of that name, built on the reporting and Looker Studio skills from its four lessons. A report for marketing leadership is a common recurring task for analysts, so it is useful practice.

Google Analytics 4 for Ecommerce (12 hours)

The second course is the more technical one. You create a data stream, install GA4 with Google Tag Manager, and use Tag Manager’s preview and debug tools to confirm that data arrives. You configure user access and privacy settings, connect GA4 to BigQuery, implement ecommerce tracking with recommended events, read the monetization reports, and build audience segments. The last lesson covers Looker Studio data blends and joins.

Project: Google Merchandise Store Dashboard. You audit the GA4 setup of Google’s own demo store, make two recommendations to improve it, and rebuild an updated Looker Studio dashboard. It is a realistic task, and a finished audit is something you can show in an interview.

Prerequisites

Udacity lists HTML and CSS and digital marketing fluency. That is a fair warning: the ecommerce course installs GA4 through Google Tag Manager and debugs tags, which is much easier if you can read page source. You do not need to write SQL or code. If marketing terms such as acquisition channels, attribution and conversion funnels are new to you, Udacity’s Digital Marketing Nanodegree is the better starting point.

How Much Does the GA4 Nanodegree Cost?

Udacity sells its Nanodegrees two ways: as part of a subscription to the whole catalog, or as a one-time purchase of a single program. These are the list prices on the program page on 11 October 2026 (see also Udacity pricing):

Plan List price With the 40% new-member offer What you get
Monthly subscription $249 / month about $150 / month The whole Udacity catalog; cancel anytime
4-month prepay $846 ($212 / month) about $508 Discount covers the first 4 months, then it rolls to month-to-month
Buy just this program $999 one-time $599.40 one-time The GA4 Nanodegree only, at your own pace

On 11 October the program page advertised 40% off any plan for new members. Our link carries the reader code onlinecourseing40, which is the same 40%. If Udacity is running a bigger sale when you read this, check that your cart shows the larger discount before you pay.

Udacity estimates 22 hours for this program. At that length, most learners can finish within one month of the subscription, which makes the monthly plan (about $150 with the new-member offer) far cheaper than the $599.40 one-time purchase. Plan a focused month rather than buying the 4-month prepay.

Udacity GA4 Nanodegree vs Free GA4 Training

Option Format Price Best for
Udacity GA4 Nanodegree 22 hours, 2 reviewed projects $249/month or $999; 40% off for new members on 11 Oct Portfolio projects with feedback
Google Analytics Certification (Skillshop) Google’s own self-paced course and exam No price shown in the Skillshop catalog Passing Google’s certification
Google Analytics 4 for Beginners (Udemy) Video course by Anil Batra One-time Udemy price; frequent sales A low-cost walkthrough of GA4 reports

Google’s own training is the obvious first stop. Skillshop, Google’s product-training site, lists a Google Analytics Certification (2026) in its catalog. It is Google’s own credential for the product, and Udacity’s certificate does not replace it. It pays us nothing.

Anil Batra’s Google Analytics 4 for Beginners on Udemy is rated 4.5 from 3,339 ratings with 12,660 students. It was last updated in June 2024, so check the course preview against GA4’s current interface before you buy. See the Udemy GA4 course.

The honest summary: use Google’s free material to learn the product and earn Google’s certificate, and pay for the Nanodegree when you want reviewed, portfolio-ready projects. Our best Google Analytics courses guide compares more options.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Current GA4, not Universal Analytics. The syllabus covers data streams, Explore, recommended ecommerce events and key events.
  • Two reviewed projects. An executive report and a store audit with a rebuilt dashboard are realistic analyst work.
  • Tag Manager and Looker Studio included. Many GA4 courses stop at reading reports; this one covers installation, debugging and dashboards.
  • Short. At 22 hours it fits into a single month of the subscription.

Cons

  • Free alternatives cover the basics. Google teaches its own product on Skillshop and offers its own certification there.
  • Light on BigQuery. Linking GA4 to BigQuery is one topic, not a course; there is no SQL work.
  • No learner rating yet. The program page shows no rating, so there is little outside evidence of how it lands.
  • Last updated October 2025. GA4’s interface changes often, so some screenshots may lag the product.

Who Should Take It?

Take it if you are a marketer or junior analyst who wants hands-on GA4 practice with feedback, you work in ecommerce, or you want portfolio projects to show an employer. Skip it if you only need Google’s certification (use Skillshop), or if you want deeper analytics with SQL and statistics, where Udacity’s Data Analyst or Business Analytics Nanodegree goes further.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Udacity Google Analytics 4 Nanodegree worth it?

It is worth it if you learn best by building, because its two reviewed projects (an executive marketing report and an audit and rebuilt dashboard for the Google Merchandise Store) give you portfolio work that Google’s free training does not. If you only need to understand GA4 reports or pass Google’s own certification, start with Google’s free Skillshop material first.

How long does the Udacity GA4 Nanodegree take?

Udacity estimates 22 hours: about 9 hours for Google Analytics 4 Essentials and 12 hours for Google Analytics 4 for Ecommerce, plus short welcome and wrap-up modules. At 5 to 6 hours a week most learners can finish in about a month, before any project revisions.

Does the Udacity GA4 Nanodegree prepare you for the Google Analytics Certification?

Not directly. It teaches the same product, so it helps, but it is not built around Google’s exam. Google’s own Google Analytics Certification is listed in its Skillshop training catalog, and the Skillshop course is the most direct preparation for that exam.

Is the GA4 certification free?

Google lists its Google Analytics Certification in the Skillshop catalog, its own training site, and the catalog shows no price for it. The Udacity Nanodegree is a separate, paid program that ends in a Udacity certificate rather than a Google one.

What are the prerequisites for the GA4 Nanodegree?

Udacity lists HTML and CSS and digital marketing fluency. You do not need to code, but you should be comfortable reading page source, because the course installs GA4 through Google Tag Manager and debugs the tags.

Does the GA4 Nanodegree teach BigQuery?

Only briefly. The Configuration Essentials lesson covers connecting GA4 to BigQuery for advanced analysis, but there is no SQL course or BigQuery project. An earlier version of this review said there was, and we have corrected it.

How much does the Udacity GA4 Nanodegree cost?

On 11 October 2026 the list prices were $249 a month, $846 for a 4-month prepay, or $999 to buy just this program. Udacity was advertising 40% off any plan for new members, which brings the monthly price to about $150.

Final Verdict

The Udacity Google Analytics 4 Nanodegree is a sound, current, 22-hour introduction to GA4 with two useful projects. We rate it 3.8 out of 5. It loses points because Google teaches the same product for free and offers its own certification, and because the BigQuery coverage is thinner than its reputation. Take it for the reviewed projects, finish it within one month of the subscription, and earn Google’s free certificate alongside it.
