Springboard review — online bootcamp with mentorship and a money-back guarantee

Springboard Review 2026: Is It Worth It? Our 3.8/5 Verdict

Disclosure: OnlineCourseing has a paid partnership with Springboard, so we may earn a commission if you enroll through links on this page. That never changes what you pay, and it never changes our verdict.

Springboard gives OnlineCourseing readers $1,000 off any course with the code OC1000SB, including the Software Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, UI/UX Design and Machine Learning bootcamps. Enter it when you apply through our Springboard partner page. Springboard has not published an end date for this code. We re-confirmed it on Springboard’s partner page on 22 October 2026.

Last updated: October 2026. Written by Josh Hutcheson, OnlineCourseing editor. Every price, prerequisite and guarantee term below was re-read on Springboard’s own course pages on 22 October 2026. See our review methodology.

Springboard is an online bootcamp that pairs a self-paced curriculum with a 1-to-1 industry mentor and a career coach. It currently sells six tech bootcamps (software engineering, data science, data analytics, cybersecurity, UI/UX design, and machine learning engineering and AI) plus healthcare programs. This review covers what each track costs, what the money-back guarantee really requires, what graduates report, and who should skip it.

Our verdict

Springboard scores 3.8 / 5. The mentorship model is genuinely good and the money-back guarantee is real — but it is far more conditional than the marketing suggests, the price is high at $7,190–$10,900 upfront (up to $13,900 at list price), and the flagship tracks are not beginner programs despite being sold that way.

Worth it if you already have the prerequisite skills, want 1-to-1 mentorship, and will actually complete every job-search requirement. Skip it if you are starting from zero, or you are buying primarily for the guarantee.

How we scored it

Criterion (weight) Score Why
Mentorship and coaching (30%) 4.5 The consistent strength in reviews and on Reddit; 1-to-1 mentor plus career coach
Curriculum (25%) 3.5 Solid and project-based, but reviewers call some material filler or confusing
Guarantee and career support (20%) 3.5 Real refunds are paid, but only when every condition is met on time
Value for money (15%) 3.0 $7,190–$10,900 upfront; cheaper routes exist for self-starters
Outcomes evidence (10%) 3.5 Published, but dated December 2023 and self-reported

Weighted total: 3.8 out of 5. The scores are our editorial judgment from the sources listed on this page, not a student survey.

Yes — Springboard is an established online bootcamp provider with real mentors, real career coaching and a refund policy it does honor. It is not a scam, and the most common version of that question usually means “will I actually get a job?” rather than “does this company exist?”

The more useful skepticism is about the numbers used to sell it. Springboard advertises a 12-month job placement rate, but read the denominator: its own outcomes page reports 85.6% of “job qualified individuals who reported receiving an offer” receiving it within 12 months of graduation. People who did not finish, did not meet the job-search requirements, or simply never reported back are not in that figure. That is a self-selected sample, which is standard practice across the bootcamp industry and is exactly why placement rates should not be the reason you buy. One more thing worth checking yourself: that percentage, and the $23,333 average salary increase reported beside it, are both dated December 2023 — so the headline numbers Springboard still sells on are approaching three years old.

How much does Springboard actually cost?

Springboard publishes three payment routes on every course page: pay upfront (the cheapest), pay month to month while you are enrolled, or finance with a loan. Here is every tech track, read from its own Tuition table on 22 October 2026:

Track List tuition Pay upfront Month to month Typical length
Data Science $13,900 $9,900 $1,890/mo (about $11,340 over 6 months) 6 months part-time
Software Engineering $13,860 $9,900 $1,540/mo ($13,860 over 9 months) 9 months part-time
Cybersecurity $11,900 $10,900 $1,983/mo ($11,900 over 6 months) 6 months part-time
Data Analytics $11,300 $8,900 $1,798/mo (about $10,788 over 6 months) 6 months part-time
UI/UX Design $8,690 $7,190 $840/mo (about $7,560 over 9 months) 9 months part-time
ML Engineering & AI Not listed on the page Ask admissions Ask admissions 9 months

Financing: Springboard’s loan partner Climb Credit quotes $20 to $767 a month depending on the track and your terms, on the full list tuition plus interest; the Software Engineering page also names Ascent. Loans are only available to US residents. A deposit of $500 to $700 is paid at enrollment. The OC1000SB code takes $1,000 off any course on top of these routes when you enroll through our partner page.

The spread between paying upfront and financing the same Data Science course is $4,000 before interest, the single biggest lever you control. The prerequisite people miss: the Data Science track expects six months of active coding experience in a general-purpose language. It is not a beginners’ program, whatever the marketing implies.

The money-back guarantee — read the conditions

Springboard’s own guarantee page is blunt about how conditional this is: the eligibility criteria it lists are “a starting point in the process and do not guarantee eligibility”, and it notes that criteria vary from course to course.

Worth knowing before you search for older reviews: Springboard now presents this as a “money-back guarantee” rather than the “job guarantee” language that dominates most write-ups, including earlier versions of this one.

Their own wording: “If you complete all course and job search requirements on time and still don’t secure a qualifying role, you may be eligible for a full post-completion refund. Terms apply.”

Three phrases carry the weight there — “all… requirements on time”, “qualifying role” and “may be eligible”. In practice the job-search obligations are substantial and time-bound: applications per week, mentor check-ins, deadlines. Miss them and eligibility lapses, which is the most common reason people who expected a refund do not receive one.

Our position: treat the guarantee as a discipline mechanism, not insurance. If you would only enroll because of the refund, that is the clearest signal not to enroll. Buy the mentorship and the structure; regard the refund as a backstop you hope never to test.

To see how specific the conditions are, these are the eligibility terms printed on the Cybersecurity course page: a bachelor’s degree or one year of relevant work or military experience; on-time completion of all mandatory coursework, core projects, the certification exams and career-development tasks; and every post-completion job-search requirement, including regular networking, applications and interviewing. Other tracks have their own terms, and UI/UX Design and ML Engineering & AI are not covered by the guarantee at all; UI/UX instead includes six months of job prep after graduation.

What is Springboard

Springboard is a US-based online bootcamp provider. Its model is the same across tracks: self-paced online lessons, a weekly call with an industry mentor, a career coach for the job search, and a portfolio of projects. It also runs healthcare programs such as medical assistant training, which we cover separately in our Springboard Medical Assistant review.

Two things set it apart from cheaper online courses: the human support (mentor plus coach) and the money-back guarantee on four tracks. Both come with a price tag in the thousands, so the question is always whether you need that support to finish.

How Springboard works, in detail

  • Apply and qualify. You apply online and work with an admissions director to confirm the prerequisites and, where it applies, your guarantee eligibility. The UI/UX track uses a technical skills survey to check readiness.
  • Learn at your own pace. Lessons, readings and projects are online and self-paced within the track’s timeframe, which is 6 or 9 months part-time.
  • Meet your mentor. Regular 1-to-1 calls with a mentor working in the field, who reviews your projects and answers questions.
  • Build the portfolio. Each track ends in capstone projects you can show employers; UI/UX adds a four-week externship.
  • Search with a coach. Career coaching covers your resume, LinkedIn profile, interviews and negotiation, and the job-search requirements that the guarantee depends on.

What is the quality of learning like?

Quality depends on the track, so here is what each one teaches and who it is for, based on its current course page:

Data Science

Six months part-time, with new AI-for-data-professionals units. Covers Python, statistics, machine learning and a specialization, ending in a capstone. It requires six months of coding experience. Springboard reports a $25,434 average salary increase for data science students who shared pre- and post-course salaries (December 2023).

Data Analytics (with Microsoft)

Springboard now brands this as a Data Analytics Bootcamp built with Microsoft tools, six months part-time. It is aimed at career changers with office experience: the page asks for at least two years of professional work experience. Reported average salary increase: $17,418.

Software Engineering

Nine months part-time, with instructional content from instructor Colt Steele and an AI-for-engineers unit. It expects JavaScript fundamentals before you start. Reported average salary increase: $25,764.

Cybersecurity

Six months part-time, built around defensive security and preparation for certification exams, which are part of the guarantee conditions. A security mentor on Reddit described it as a solid foundation for people new to infosec who can afford the price.

UI/UX Design

The only beginner-friendly tech track: nine months part-time, a four-week externship, and job prep for six months after graduation. Springboard reports an $84,316 average starting salary for job-qualified graduates who reported an offer (December 2023). It is not covered by the money-back guarantee.

ML Engineering & AI

Nine months, for people who already program: it requires proficiency in an object-oriented language such as Python, Java or JavaScript. Tuition is not listed on the course page, and it carries no money-back guarantee.

Retired tracks

Older reviews, including earlier versions of this one, describe Tech Sales and Digital Marketing career tracks. Both course pages now return “Not Found” on springboard.com, so treat those tracks as discontinued.

How the curriculum and mentorship work

The curriculum is project-based: you read and watch lessons, then build projects that mirror real work, such as a full-cycle data analysis or a web application. The mentor is the center of the model. You meet regularly 1-to-1, get feedback on projects, and can ask the questions a course forum would leave unanswered.

Reviews are consistent on this point: the mentors are the product, and the quality varies by mentor. Several Reddit graduates called mentors “hit and miss”, and Trustpilot reviewers who were unhappy often name a mismatch with their mentor. If your mentor is not working for you, ask to change early rather than late.

Because the material is self-paced, discipline matters. Springboard sizes the tracks at 6 or 9 months part-time, and the guarantee requires you to finish on time, so a slow start can cost you the refund protection as well as money.

How the job guarantee and career support work

Every guaranteed track includes career coaching: one-to-one sessions on your job-search strategy, resume and LinkedIn reviews, interview preparation and salary negotiation, plus networking events. The guarantee depends on using these services. You have to complete the job-search requirements (applications, networking and coach check-ins) on time, and the specific rules are in each course’s terms and conditions.

Read those terms before you enroll and keep a record of every requirement you complete. The refunds that graduates report on Reddit went to people who met every condition; the complaints come from people who missed one.

What financing options does Springboard offer?

  • Upfront payment — the cheapest route on every track (17% to 29% off list tuition, depending on the track).
  • Month to month — pay only for the months you are enrolled; finishing early lowers the total.
  • Loan financing — through Climb Credit (and Ascent, named on the Software Engineering page), US residents only. You repay the list tuition plus interest, so it is the most expensive route.

Some course FAQs still mention a deferred-tuition option, but the tuition tables we read list only the three routes above, and Springboard’s financing and scholarships pages now return 404 errors. Ask admissions in writing about any deferred or scholarship option before you rely on it.

Graduate outcomes and common complaints

Springboard’s outcomes page (figures dated December 2023) reports 18,394 enrolled students across its main tech tracks, 85.6% of job-qualified graduates who reported an offer receiving it within 12 months, and a $23,333 average salary increase among students who shared their salaries. Those are self-reported, filtered numbers, as explained in the legitimacy section above.

On Trustpilot, Springboard holds 3.5 out of 5 from 360 reviews (22 October 2026). We read the 45 most recent: 28 were five-star and 9 one-star. Positive reviews praise the mentors, the structure and the career coaches; negative ones focus on support responsiveness, refund disputes and material that feels thin for the price. One telling detail: the 45 most recent reviews stretch back to early 2025, so few students are reviewing it today.

The most common complaint is a mismatch of expectations: people who enrolled as complete beginners in tracks that expect prior coding or office experience.

Who is eligible, and how does enrollment work?

Track What you need before you start
Data Science Six months of active coding experience in a general-purpose language
Software Engineering JavaScript fundamentals
Data Analytics At least two years of professional work experience and strong problem-solving skills
Cybersecurity No coding prerequisite listed; guarantee needs a degree or a year of relevant work or military experience
UI/UX Design Beginner friendly; a technical skills survey checks readiness
ML Engineering & AI Proficiency in Python, Java or JavaScript (object-oriented programming)

Enrollment runs on a rolling basis: apply online, speak with admissions, complete any skills survey, pay the deposit and choose a payment route. Every track also requires fluent spoken and written English. If you are unsure whether you meet a prerequisite, ask admissions to walk you through the first unit or the skills survey before you pay the deposit.

Springboard’s university and employer partnerships

The partnership Springboard currently advertises is with Microsoft: its Data Analytics bootcamp is branded “Data Analytics Bootcamp x Microsoft” and teaches with Microsoft’s analysis tools. Course pages also show logos of companies that have hired graduates. Earlier claims that Google co-designed the analytics track, or that Microsoft built the UX curriculum, are not supported by the current pages, so we have removed them.

Treat hiring logos for what they are: proof that some graduates were hired there, not a pipeline into those companies. If an employer connection matters to your decision, ask admissions which companies hired graduates of your specific track in the last year, and how many; a good admissions team will answer that question with numbers rather than logos.

Is Springboard available in my country?

The courses are online and open to students in many countries, as long as you meet the English-language requirement. Two parts are narrower: the loan financing is only available to US residents, and the money-back guarantee is not available everywhere. Check eligibility for your country with admissions before you enroll, and get the answer in writing.

What graduates actually say

These come from third-party review platforms rather than Springboard’s own testimonials page, and we have kept the critical ones alongside the positive. They are other learners’ words, not our rating — our verdict is the 3.8/5 at the top.

Data Science Career Track student, 5/5 (via Trustpilot, April 2025)

“Course work was intense. The help that you get from your mentoring guidance makes you leap forward quickly. Self motivation is absolutely necessary to pursue this course successfully.”

Sonia — UX course, 3/5 (via Trustpilot)

“The course was good, not great… The mentors are great and the idea behind it. I think that it is a bit too much filler and a lot of the info can be found online by yourself.”

Justin — 3/5 (via Trustpilot)

“Overall it’s a good program, but the curriculum and assignments can get really confusing.”

The pattern across reviews matches our own read: the mentors are the product, and the curriculum is the weak link. People rate the human support highly and the written material middlingly. If you buy Springboard, you are buying the mentor relationship — budget your time accordingly and expect to supplement the reading.

A one-star Trustpilot review from April 2025 shows the other side: a graduate who did not find a job within a year said the refund was paid in 12 monthly installments rather than at once. Ask admissions how and when a guarantee refund is paid before you enroll.

Which Springboard track should you choose?

Springboard sells six career tracks, and they are not equivalent on the point most readers care about: only four of them carry the money-back guarantee. We re-checked Springboard’s own program list on 22 October 2026. Software Engineering, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity and Data Science were badged with the guarantee (our Springboard Data Analytics review sets out what the guarantee requires for that track). UI/UX Design and the ML Engineering and AI track were not. If the guarantee is the reason you are considering Springboard at all, that distinction should decide which track you apply to.

Track Money-back guarantee Consider it if
Software Engineering Yes You are moving into development and want the widest range of job titles to apply for.
Data Analytics Yes You want a data role built around business reporting rather than modeling.
Cybersecurity Yes You are targeting a defensive security role such as security analyst or SOC work.
Data Science Yes You want modeling and statistics work rather than business reporting.
UI/UX Design No You are moving into product design and accept that this track is not covered by the guarantee.
ML Engineering and AI No You are adding machine learning to an existing software or data role rather than switching career from scratch.

Final thoughts

Springboard is a legitimate, well-run bootcamp whose real product is human support: a mentor, a career coach and a deadline. If you already meet a track’s prerequisites and know you need that structure to finish, it can be worth the price, especially paid upfront with the $1,000 code. If you are starting from zero, or you are buying mainly for the money-back guarantee, start with a cheaper course first and come back when you have the basics.

Springboard Data Science bootcamp review

The Data Science track is Springboard’s most expensive program at $13,900 list ($9,900 upfront) and its most demanding: six months part-time for people who already code. It earns its price when you want a mentor to guide a real capstone and a coach for the job search, and you have the six months of coding experience it requires. If you are earlier than that, a cheaper data science certificate or the Data Analytics track is the better first step. Graduates who share salaries report a $25,434 average increase, which is self-reported and dated December 2023.

Springboard Cybersecurity bootcamp review

Cybersecurity is six months part-time at $11,900 list ($10,900 upfront), with certification-exam preparation built in and a money-back guarantee for students who hold a degree or a year of relevant work or military experience. Reddit’s cybersecurity community is cautious about bootcamps in general: commenters point out that you can self-study for CompTIA certifications for far less. The bootcamp’s case is the mentor, the structure and the guarantee, so it suits people who have tried self-study and stalled.

What Reddit says about Springboard

We read four threads in r/codingbootcamp, r/webdev and r/cybersecurity (posted 2021 to 2023). The picture is mixed but specific:

  • A graduate who paid about $9,300 upfront and did not find a job said Springboard approved their refund after they met the conditions.
  • Several commenters stressed reading the fine print: the guarantee has many conditions, and one software engineering graduate said it was voided by circumstances they had not expected.
  • A UX graduate reported that Springboard extended their job-guarantee window by six months, citing the tight entry-level market.
  • Mentors were described as “hit and miss”, and one 2023 graduate felt there was no real talent network after graduating.
  • A cybersecurity mentor called the course a solid foundation for newcomers who can afford it.

Our read: Reddit confirms both the strengths and the risks described above. The guarantee is real but procedural, and mentor quality decides much of the experience.

Springboard vs Summer Springboard: not the same company

If you searched for “Summer Springboard reviews”, that is a different organization. Summer Springboard runs pre-college summer programs for high school and middle school students, on campuses and online, with no connection to the Springboard tech bootcamps reviewed here.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the success rate of Springboard graduates?

Springboard’s outcomes page reports that 85.6% of “job qualified individuals who reported receiving an offer” received it within 12 months of graduation, a figure dated December 2023. It excludes anyone who did not finish, did not meet the job-search requirements, or never reported back, so read it as a self-selected sample rather than a graduation-to-job rate.

How much is the Springboard bootcamp?

Between $7,190 (UI/UX Design) and $10,900 (Cybersecurity) if you pay upfront, or $8,690 to $13,900 at list price. Month-to-month plans run $840 to $1,983 a month, and the code OC1000SB takes $1,000 off any course.

What kind of job support does Springboard provide to students?

One-to-one career coaching, resume and LinkedIn reviews, interview preparation, salary-negotiation help and networking events. On guaranteed tracks, using these services and meeting the job-search requirements is a condition of the money-back guarantee.

Does the Springboard money-back guarantee really pay out?

Yes, for students who meet every condition on time. Graduates on Reddit report approved refunds, but the terms are strict: on-time completion, job-search requirements and, on some tracks, education or experience requirements. UI/UX Design and ML Engineering & AI are not covered.

Is Springboard good for beginners?

Only the UI/UX Design track is described as beginner friendly. Data Science needs six months of coding experience, Software Engineering needs JavaScript fundamentals, ML Engineering needs object-oriented programming, and Data Analytics asks for two years of professional experience.

What is Springboard’s rating on Trustpilot?

3.5 out of 5 from 360 reviews when we checked on 22 October 2026. Recent positive reviews praise the mentors and coaches; negative ones focus on support responsiveness and refund disputes.

Is Springboard the same as Summer Springboard?

No. Summer Springboard is a separate company that runs pre-college summer programs for teenagers. Springboard is an online tech and healthcare bootcamp provider.

Considering bootcamp alternatives?

  • Coursera — Google, IBM and Meta professional certificates at a fraction of bootcamp prices.
  • Codecademy — self-paced coding career paths; see also our best Codecademy courses.
  • DataCamp — interactive data science and analytics practice for far less than a bootcamp.
  • Udemy — single courses to fill specific skill gaps.
