Educative’s annual plans are 55% off on its own pricing page (Standard $134 a year, down from $298), and that discount has been running in some form all year. Searching for an Educative coupon mostly turns up coupon sites promising 20% to 74% off. We checked those numbers against Educative’s own pages on 9 October 2026. Two discounts are real and need no code: the sale price on annual plans and the student rate. One code exists, Educative20, on Educative’s own blog. This page sets out all three, what each plan costs, and how to pay the least.

The best deal for most people is the Standard annual plan at $134 a year, about $12 a month. Educative lists it at $298, so the page shows 55% off, and the price applies automatically when you choose annual billing.
If you are sure you will use Educative for more than a year, the two-year Standard plan at $224 is cheaper per month (about $9.33). Students should skip both and go to the student page: Standard drops to $104 a year.
Standard already includes the Grokking interview courses. Pick Premium ($179 a year) if you want more interview support on top: personalized interview prep, three AI mock interviews a month and 330+ projects. Premium Plus ($224) mainly adds Cloud Labs for hands-on AWS practice.
Educative plans and prices (October 2026)
Educative sells one subscription in three tiers, each billed monthly, annually or every two years. These are the prices its pricing page showed on 9 October 2026:

What each plan costs per month

Monthly billing has no discount, so a year of monthly Standard costs $708, more than five times the annual price. Pay monthly only if you need Educative for a month or two, for example to cram for one interview.

Is there an Educative coupon code?
Yes, one. Educative’s own blog post on promo codes gives the code Educative20 for 20% off the Premium and Premium Plus plans. Its instructions have you start a monthly plan and enter the code under “Redeem Coupon” at checkout.
Three caveats before you use it:
- It may have expired. The post is dated January 2025 and calls the offer limited-time. We did not complete a checkout to test it.
- It applies to monthly plans. 20% off Premium monthly is about $79 a month, against about $15 a month for Premium on the annual sale price.
- It does not cover Standard. The post names only Premium and Premium Plus.
So the code is worth trying only if you want Premium for a single month. For anything longer, the annual plan is the better deal by a wide margin.
Why Educative’s 55% off never seems to end
Educative presents its discount as a time-limited sale. On 9 October 2026 the banner read “Prime Time 55% off” in the morning and “Fall Sale! 55% off now!” by the afternoon, both with countdown timers. When the timer reached zero, the 55% price stayed.

The pattern is a near-permanent discount under rotating names. That helps you in two ways: you don’t need to wait for a sale, and you shouldn’t feel rushed by a countdown. If the price you see is 50% to 55% off list, you are seeing the normal deal.
The Educative student discount
Educative gives students 30% off for life. You qualify by signing up with a verified school email, such as a .edu address, on its student page. The discount applies at every renewal for as long as the subscription stays active, and existing subscribers can apply it to their next renewal.
On 9 October 2026 the student page stacked the student discount on top of the sale, showing 65% off list prices:

Educative labels this “Limited Time Pricing”, so the exact student figures may move. The 30% lifetime discount itself is the stable part.
Educative free trial: what you get
Educative offers a 21-day free trial on its trial page. It covers the course library, projects, personalized paths, coding playgrounds and completion certificates, so it is a fair test of how Educative teaches.
Two terms matter:
- Interview prep is excluded. The Grokking courses and other interview prep material are not part of the trial. If interview prep is your reason for buying, the trial won’t show you that material.
- You may be charged automatically. Educative’s terms say you may need to enter billing details and that it charges on the last day of the trial. Cancel at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid the charge; a reminder for day 19 is the safe way.
Educative refund policy
Educative has no fixed money-back guarantee. Its terms of service say that if you cancel within a reasonable time after your first purchase, you may apply for a refund, which Educative may grant or deny at its discretion. The policy refers only to your first purchase.
In practice that makes the free trial your safety net. Use it to check the courses you care about before paying, and if you buy an annual plan by mistake, ask for a refund straight away rather than weeks later.
Do coupon sites have working Educative codes?
The coupon sites ranking for “educative coupon” advertise between 20% and 74% off. Here is what we could match each figure to on Educative’s own pages:

Educative Black Friday: is it worth waiting?
Usually not. Our tracking put Educative’s 2025 Black Friday sale at roughly 50-55% off, running from 28 November to about 4 December. That is the same range as the October 2026 price, so waiting saves little.
If you want to watch anyway, our Black Friday online course deals hub lists each platform’s offer as it goes live. Students will almost always do better with the student rate than with any public sale.
Ways to pay less for Educative
- Choose annual or two-year billing. This alone is the 55% discount; monthly plans get none.
- Use a school email if you have one. The student rate takes Standard to $104 a year.
- Start with Standard. It includes every course, Grokking included. Upgrade later if you want mock interviews or Cloud Labs.
- Use the 21-day trial first, and cancel at least 24 hours before it ends if Educative isn’t for you.
- Try Educative20 only for a one-month Premium plan. For longer, annual billing beats the code.
Is Educative worth it at $134 a year?
For self-paced developers who learn better from text and in-browser exercises than from video, Educative is good value at about $12 a month. The library is broad, the lessons run in the browser with no setup, and the annual price is low for a full-library subscription.
