Quick verdict
Bottom line: The best Angular course for most people is Maximilian Schwarzmüller’s Angular – The Complete Guide on Udemy: rated 4.6 from almost 225,000 reviews and updated in April 2026. If you want a full career path with projects and a community, Zero To Mastery’s Angular Developer path is the best paid alternative. If you want to start for free, use the official tutorial on angular.dev.
- Best overall: Angular – The Complete Guide (Udemy), 4.6 from 224,990 ratings
- Best career path: Zero To Mastery Angular Developer path, 7 courses, 126 hours and 15 projects
- Best short course from the Angular team: Angular Fundamentals by Mark Thompson (Master.dev, formerly Frontend Masters)
- Best free start: the official tutorials on angular.dev
- Best for .NET developers: Build an app with ASP.NET Core and Angular (Udemy), 4.7
- Skip: any course last updated before 2024, including the once-popular Mosh Hamedani course (last updated April 2018)
Angular is the TypeScript framework Google maintains for building large single-page web apps. It changes quickly: angular.dev lists three major versions released between May 2025 and June 2026, and the framework of 2026 looks different from the one most older courses teach. That makes the last-updated date the first thing to check on any Angular course, ahead of the rating or the price.
We ranked the courses below on four things: whether they teach a supported Angular version, the depth of the projects, learner ratings at scale, and price. Ratings, update dates and prices were read on each provider’s own page on 16 October 2026.

Which Angular version should you learn?
Learn the current version. On angular.dev’s release table, read on 16 October 2026, Angular 22 is the active release (it shipped on 3 June 2026), while Angular 21 and Angular 20 get long-term support only: critical fixes and security patches. Angular 20’s support ends on 28 November 2026. Versions 2 to 19 are no longer supported.
| Version | Status (16 Oct 2026) | Released | Support ends |
|---|---|---|---|
| Angular 22 | Active | 3 June 2026 | June 2028 (long-term support) |
| Angular 21 | Long-term support | 19 November 2025 | June 2027 |
| Angular 20 | Long-term support | 28 May 2025 | 28 November 2026 |
| Angular 2 to 19 | Unsupported | 2016 to 2024 | Ended |
You do not need a course that names version 22 in its title. Angular releases are mostly incremental, and a course updated in 2025 or 2026 teaches the patterns you will use at work: standalone components instead of NgModules, signals for reactive state, and the built-in @if and @for control flow in templates. A course last updated in 2018 teaches NgModule-heavy code and older template syntax that new projects no longer start with.
Do not confuse Angular with AngularJS, the original 2010 framework. AngularJS is a different, retired product. When a course title says “Angular 2” it means modern Angular, which is why Schwarzmüller’s course still has “angular-2” in its web address.
The best Angular courses, ranked
1. Angular – The Complete Guide (Udemy): best overall
Maximilian Schwarzmüller’s course is the default recommendation in Angular communities for a reason. It has a 4.6 rating from 224,990 reviews and more than 874,000 students, and it was last updated in April 2026, so it teaches the standalone and signals-based style that current Angular uses. At almost 56 hours it starts from zero and covers HTTP requests, routing, forms, authentication and deployment, with each section built around a project.
In the r/angular threads we read, it was the course most often named by people who had taken it, usually alongside the free official docs. The main criticism is length: it is a long course, and some learners skip the sections that cover topics they already know.
- Who it suits: beginners with basic JavaScript, and developers coming from React or Vue
- Cost: sold at Udemy’s frequent sale prices, or included in Udemy’s Personal Plan subscription
- Watch out for: the course is long; use the course outline to skip what you know

2. Zero To Mastery Angular Developer path: best career path
Zero To Mastery’s Angular Developer path bundles 7 courses, 126 hours of video and 15 projects, led by the 29.5-hour Complete Angular Developer course. ZTM says students take about four months on average to finish the path. It adds a career course on resumes and interviews plus job-hunt steps, which a single course does not, and membership includes ZTM’s Discord community of students and instructors.
It costs $25 a month billed yearly ($299) and gives access to every ZTM course, so it is good value if you will also take the JavaScript, TypeScript or career courses. If you only want Angular, the Udemy course above is cheaper. Read our Zero To Mastery review for more on the platform.
3. Angular Fundamentals (Master.dev, formerly Frontend Masters): best short course
Frontend Masters now redirects to Master.dev. Its Angular Fundamentals course is taught by Mark Thompson, known online as Mark Techson, who works on the Angular team at Google. It runs 4 hours 35 minutes, was published on 29 January 2024 and is rated 4.8. It covers components, the newer template control flow, routing, reactive forms, dependency injection and deferrable views by building an app.
It is a fundamentals course, not a full curriculum, and it predates the latest releases. It suits experienced developers who want a fast, accurate overview from someone who helps build the framework. We do not earn from Master.dev.
4. The official angular.dev tutorials: best free start
The Angular team’s own tutorials on angular.dev are free and match the current version. The first one, “Learn Angular in your browser”, runs in the angular.dev Playground, so you can write Angular code before installing anything; others cover signals and deferrable views. Several Reddit replies recommended starting here and buying a course only when you want projects and structure. Pair them with the Angular docs’ essentials guides and you can build a working app at no cost.
5. Become an Angular Developer path (Educative): best for text-based learners
Educative’s Angular path is text and interactive code instead of video: 143 hours, 319 lessons and 483 in-browser playgrounds. Despite “AngularJS” in its name, the modules we checked teach current Angular topics such as NgRx state management and animations. It is included in Educative’s Standard plan, shown at $149 a year on 16 October 2026. It suits people who learn faster by reading than by watching.
See the Educative Angular path →
6. Angular: Getting Started (Pluralsight)
Deborah Kurata’s Angular: Getting Started is a clear 5-hour-52-minute beginner course, last updated on 23 February 2024. It explains components, data binding and HTTP calls well, but it predates the most recent Angular releases, so treat it as an introduction and follow it with the current docs. It is the obvious pick if you already have a Pluralsight subscription, often through work.
7. Angular & NodeJS: The MEAN Stack Guide (Udemy)
Also by Schwarzmüller, the MEAN Stack Guide connects an Angular front end to a Node.js, Express and MongoDB back end. It is rated 4.5 from 25,635 reviews and was last updated in October 2025. Take it after an Angular fundamentals course if you want to build complete apps in JavaScript. Our MERN stack course guide covers the React equivalent.
8. Build an app with ASP.NET Core and Angular from scratch (Udemy)
Many Angular jobs pair it with a .NET back end. This course builds a complete app with an ASP.NET Core back end and an Angular front end, is rated 4.7 from 25,760 reviews, and was updated in September 2026, the most recent of any course on this list. Choose it if you already write C# or are applying for .NET roles.
9. Go Java Full Stack with Spring Boot and Angular (Udemy)
The Java equivalent: Spring Boot plus Angular, rated 4.5 from 11,672 reviews and last updated in January 2026. It suits Java developers moving into full-stack work, a common pairing in enterprise teams.
Older Angular courses we no longer recommend
The Complete Angular Course: Beginner to Advanced (Mosh Hamedani, Udemy). This course still has a strong 4.5 rating from 28,166 reviews, but Udemy shows it was last updated in April 2018. That is eight years and many Angular versions ago, before standalone components, signals and the new control flow. We previously ranked it second; we have removed our link to it. Mosh’s newer material on his own site is a separate product we have not reviewed.
Getting Started with Angular (Edureka, Coursera). A short course of about one week at 10 hours a week, rated 4.2 from only 14 reviews. It is a reasonable quick introduction if you already pay for Coursera Plus, but it is too thin to replace any of the picks above. See it on Coursera.
Free Angular courses
You can learn Angular to a job-ready level without paying, though a paid course saves time on structure. The best free options:
- angular.dev tutorials and guides: free, official and always current. The best place to start.
- Coursera audit access: Coursera lets you enroll in many courses for free and charges for the certificate, including the Edureka course above.
- Udemy free previews: each paid course shows free preview lectures, so you can check the teaching style before you buy.
- Your employer: Reddit replies pointed out that companies with Udemy Business give staff the Udemy courses free, and many teams also have Pluralsight.
A free course rarely comes with a meaningful certificate. If a certificate matters, look at the certification options below instead.
Is there an official Angular certification?
No. Google does not offer an Angular certification. The best-known option is from certificates.dev, built “in partnership with Angular Training”. It has three levels:
| Level | Exam format | Price (16 Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Junior Angular Developer | 40 minutes, 50 questions | Free assessment available; see certificates.dev |
| Mid-Level Angular Developer | 135 minutes: 40 questions plus 105 minutes of coding challenges | $170 for the exam (list $179) |
| Senior Angular Developer | 135 minutes: 40 questions plus 105 minutes of coding challenges | See certificates.dev |
Employers hire Angular developers on projects and interviews far more than on certificates, so a portfolio of two or three real apps is worth more than any of these exams. If your employer pays for training, the mid-level exam is a reasonable way to prove your skills on paper. We do not earn from certificates.dev.
How long does it take to learn Angular?
If you already know JavaScript, expect a few weeks of steady practice to build simple apps and around three to four months to be productive on a real codebase. Zero To Mastery reports that its students take about four months on average to finish its Angular path. If you are new to programming, add time for JavaScript and TypeScript first: Angular is written in TypeScript, and our TypeScript course guide and JavaScript course guide are good places to start.
How to choose
- Check the last-updated date first. Anything before 2024 teaches patterns new Angular projects no longer use.
- Match the back end you will use. Node.js (MEAN), .NET or Java each have a dedicated course above.
- Pick a format you will finish. Video (Udemy, ZTM, Master.dev), text (Educative) or the free docs.
- Use what you already pay for. A Pluralsight, Coursera Plus or Udemy Business plan may already include a good course.
- Build projects. Whatever you choose, finish with an app you designed yourself.
Angular vs React: which should you learn?
Angular is a complete framework: routing, forms, HTTP and testing come built in, and its conventions make large codebases consistent, which is one reason it is common in large enterprise teams. React is a smaller library that leaves you free to choose your own tools for routing, forms and state. If a job you want lists Angular, learn Angular. If you have no target job yet, compare local job listings for both before you choose; see ourReact course guide. Many developers learn both, and the TypeScript and component skills carry over.
