Bottom line: edX runs its Black Friday offer as a Cyber Monday sale that starts early in November. In 2024 it took up to 30% off select programs from 8 November to 3 December; in 2025 it was 15% off with code EDXCYBER25 until 1 December. A 15% code is live right now, SUCCESS2026 until 21 October 2026, so waiting for Black Friday only pays if edX returns to its 2024 depth.

How edX discount codes work
- You type the code at checkout on edX.org. The 2025 Cyber Monday and October 2026 codes were entered at checkout; they are not applied automatically.
- They cover certificates and programs, not degrees. Verified courses, Professional Certificates, MicroBachelors and MicroMasters qualify; degree programs do not.
- One code at a time. edX states its codes cannot be combined with other discount codes.
- Executive education is separate. In 2025 the executive education discount (up to 20%) used its own code on getsmarter.com, where those courses are sold.

Should you wait for edX Black Friday?
The answer depends on what edX offers this year, because its Black Friday depth has varied:
- If you are buying before 21 October 2026, use SUCCESS2026 for 15% off. That matched the 2025 Cyber Monday discount.
- If you can wait and the program is expensive, Cyber Monday may be worth it: in 2024 edX offered up to 30% off select programs, twice the usual 15%.
- If you only want to learn, not certify, audit the course for free and skip the sale entirely.
On a $300 Professional Certificate, 15% saves $45 and 30% saves $90, so the difference between a normal code and a 2024-style Cyber Monday sale is worth waiting a few weeks for only on larger purchases.
Is edX the right platform to buy on Black Friday?
edX is strongest for university-level courses and credentials from named institutions. Does edX have a Black Friday sale?
Yes, though edX calls it a Cyber Monday sale and starts it early. In 2024 it ran from 8 November to 3 December with up to 30% off select programs (code EDXCYBER24). In 2025 it was 15% off courses and programs with code EDXCYBER25 until 1 December, plus up to 20% off executive education.
When does the edX Cyber Monday sale start in 2026?
edX has not announced it. In 2024 it started on 8 November. In 2025 a 15% code ran through 31 October and the Cyber Monday code was promoted from 20 November. Expect an offer in November 2026, ending around Cyber Monday (30 November) or 1 December.
Is there an edX discount code right now?
Yes. On 6 October 2026 edX’s promo page offered 15% off select courses and programs with code SUCCESS2026, valid until 21 October 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. It does not apply to degree programs and cannot be combined with other codes.
Do edX Black Friday codes work on degrees?
No. edX’s 2025 Cyber Monday and its October 2026 offers exclude degree programs. They apply to verified courses, Professional Certificates, MicroBachelors and MicroMasters programs.
Is the edX Black Friday discount bigger than its other sales?
Not reliably. edX ran 15% codes in October 2025, at Cyber Monday 2025, in January 2026 and in October 2026. The deepest offers we can document were 2024’s up to 30% off select programs, at Cyber Monday and again in the 13 to 19 December end-of-year sale.
Can I audit edX courses for free instead?
Many edX courses can be audited for free, with limited access and no certificate. The discount codes matter when you want the verified certificate or a multi-course program; check each course page for its audit option.
