Power BI Nanodegree vs Microsoft PL-300
The PL-300 is Microsoft’s official Power BI certification exam. Udacity’s Nanodegree teaches the skills but doesn’t directly prep you for PL-300 questions. If you need the Microsoft certification for your employer, you’ll still need PL-300 exam prep materials after completing the Nanodegree.
That said, the Nanodegree gives you stronger hands-on portfolio projects than exam prep courses typically provide.
Is the Power BI Nanodegree Worth It?
Yes, for beginners and intermediate analysts who want structured Power BI training with portfolio projects. The no-code prerequisite makes it accessible to business professionals who aren’t programmers.
If you’re already comfortable with data modeling and just need to learn DAX syntax, free Microsoft Learn modules might be sufficient. The Nanodegree’s value is in the structured project-based learning path.

Do I need to know SQL before starting?
